Esther Bégin’s Biography :
As an experienced communication professional, Esther Bégin, speaker, has over 25 years of experience in journalism and hosting. Since the fall of 2018, she is the CPAC (Cable Public Affairs Channel) francophone anchorwoman, where she hosts a daily TV show on political news, during the work of the House of Commons, and conducts a series of interviews with Canadian political figures.
As a TV anchorwoman, she also performed hundreds of interviews with Canada and Quebec decision-makers, such as Prime Ministers, Ministers, and business owners, as well as economic, social, cultural, and environmental leaders.
In addition to being successfully entrusted with various and punctual mandates in the media field, she acted as a journalist and correspondent for RDI and Radio-Canada on Canada’s West Coast during the summer of 2016 and 2017. Furthermore, she presented a documentary series called: Fièvre politique, broadcasted on Télé-Québec and for which she won a Gemini Award in 2017.
Esther hosted the very first TV newscast in the history of LCN, TVA’s rolling-news channel, on September 8, 1997. Her role as a pioneer was highlighted during LCN’s 20th anniversary celebrations, during the summer of 2017. She also took part in the video tribute made for the occasion.
She is recognized and respected for hosting tens of election nights, whether they took place on the provincial, federal, or U.S. scenes, and for her expertise in hosting breaking news and special events. Furthermore, she was on air during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the war in Iraq as well as the Dawson College and Virginia Tech University shootings.
While she was living in New York from 2009 to 2012, she collaborated with numerous Quebec media (Radio-Canada, La Presse, Cogeco’s 98.5 FM, Yahoo! Québec, CNV Internet Radio as well as Châtelaine and Ricardo magazines) as a journalist, analyst, reporter, blogger, and American news correspondent.
Since her return to Montréal, she hosted two public affairs programs on Vtélé and she wrote a blog in the Journal de Montréal in which she commented on Quebec, Canada, and U.S. news on a daily basis. Furthermore, she is regularly invited as an analyst and panelist on Quebec’s various TV networks and radio stations, and acts as a visiting professor in the Master’s program of the University of Montreal Political Science Department (MAPI Program).
She has also been hired as a prestigious event host (The Entrepreneur of the Year Gala, Les Mercuriades, etc.) as well as a consultant for large companies and organizations seeking to improve their public image.
In 2013, she published a book called: Carnet d’une flâneuse à New York, 2e édition – revue et augmentée, a best-seller listing her 125 Big Apple’s top picks.
In conclusion, Esther Bégin has 2 bachelor degrees at the Laval University: in political science and law. She was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1989 and completed a Professional Certificate in leadership and human resources management at the NYU, in April 2011.
