THE CHALLENGES OF INTEGRATION
Because of the shortage and high mobility of the workforce, all organizations will have to integrate new immigrants into their teams in the not-too-distant future. Are you well prepared to welcome them? Are your colleagues well prepared to integrate them? Are you ready to make room for them?
In this talk, Ms. Laurent, herself an immigrant who arrived in 1968, will pose a number of questions for your consideration.
What is this candidate’s life story? What motivates them, apart from earning a salary? What do you do to help them integrate as soon as they enter your workplace? Do you understand his or her apprehensions, difficulties in mastering French, reluctance to “mix” with Quebec society? What are you doing to encourage them to stay with your organization?
The future of our organizations depends on the arrival of proud, strong and competent immigrants. You must roll out the red carpet for them.
Mme Laurent will show you how!
LEADERSHIP FOR WOMEN
Régine Laurent is an excellent example of female leadership. From her arrival in June 1968, she began her career as a nurse (a role formerly attributed to women) to rise to the top of the FIQ and even President of the Laurent Commission.
Far from being bitter or pessimistic about women’s ability to hold all the positions they want, Ms. Laurent speaks of victories, influences and hope throughout her talk.
“At the last SuperBowl, the F-22s that flew over the stadium were all piloted by women. Isn’t that a great victory? Today, all doors are open to women. They just have to want to.”
