About Jean Bédard

A Chartered Accountant with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Jean Bédard, speaker, fell in love with the concept of La Cage aux Sports restaurants. In 1995, at the age of 31, he acquired the chain and became its President and Chief Executive Officer.

A seasoned leader, he skillfully oversaw the network’s expansion across the province, growing it to over fifty locations. At the same time, he helped revive the profile of boxing in Québec, acting as a promoter of major events. InterBox remained for many years a key player in both local and international boxing.

Always attentive to trends and eager to give the company new momentum, Jean Bédard surrounded himself with an experienced team and traveled across North America to find inspiration and reinvent the business model. In 2015, he launched the new concept, La Cage – Brasserie sportive, focusing on a high-quality menu made with fresh, local ingredients. To this day, the success of this repositioning has been clear, ensuring the chain’s long-term sustainability.

A passionate businessman, he is actively involved in promoting sports and served as President of the Jeux du Québec in 2005. Recognized for his expertise, Jean Bédard has held several key roles within the Conseil des chaînes de restaurants du Québec (CCRQ) and the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA).

From 2006 to 2020, Groupe Sportscene was part of Canada’s select group of Best Managed Companies, holding platinum status.

In June 2022, Groupe Sportscene became Groupe Grandio, with Jean Bédard as President and Chief Executive Officer.
